Overview
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with Shropshire Council to appoint a Trading Standards Officer to their team. The role is on a short-term agency contract which is highly likely to be extended on an ongoing basis. Rate of Pay - £18 - £22 per hour. Negotiable depending on experience. Location – Shropshire, SY2 6ND. For this role remote working will be available Main Purpose of the role: To work in the Trading Standards and Licensing Service and report to the Investigation, Compliance and Intervention Team Manager. Key Responsibilities: Contribute towards service planning and assist in the design, development and delivery of team plans. Deliver operational action plans and projects in order to raise standards of compliance and deliver improved regulatory outcomes. Lead and support the development and delivery of a programme of regulatory and enforcement service and team projects and activities to identify and reduce risks to consumers and businesses. Lead on service and team projects as required. Take a lead role in a technical area of work where specialist knowledge is required. Ensure compliance with Trading Standards legislation primarily covering product safety, fair trading and metrology. Provide business advice and support, developing Primary Authority relationships, undertaking market surveillance, inspection and sampling activities. responding to complaints and enquiries and working with officers responsible for criminal investigations in order to achieve and improve levels of compliance. A primary focus of the role will be to prepare for and respond to issues that emerge as a result of EU Exit.
