Overview
My client based in the Midlands is currently recruiting for a QA engineer to join their growing team. This role will operate within a small team that will work closely with development teams assuring the quality of the applications produced by the development teams and enabling the smooth transition to the Production Test Team when development is deemed to be complete. Working closely with the QA Team Lead to ensure that code is tested in a continuous manner during development, in a well maintained and suitable QA environment. This will involve automating as much testing and deployment as possible, while performing manual tests for scenarios that cannot be automated. The successful applicant will have a detailed and analytical approach to following test cases and the technical ability to convert these test cases into automated test suites. Responsibilities: Review initial requirements documents, technical specification, User Stories etc and clearly understand the product features. Provide QA estimates to the Team Lead Be in position to provide accurate QA status and remaining estimates for the testing to the Team Lead Seek information from appropriate existing sources to handle tasks, issues and problems. The sources might include: other people, manuals, websites, etc Follow company policy and escalates issues appropriately Act promptly to meet customer needs Seek and respond positively to regular performance feedback from other people A successful candidate would need: Experience in a similar testing role in a delivery focused environment Experience in software testing Experience in functional testing Experience in manual testing Experience in test automation (selenium, cucumber, T-plan, FitNesse) Good written and oral communication skills An analytical and detailed approach Proven technical abilities (writing scripts/code or technical support skills) Ideally, the candidate should have had some experience of: Performance testing Working in an agile environment Working with SQL and Java The following would be desirable: ISTQB foundation software testing certification Experience with Jira or T-plan
