In-house Counsel, Leeds This major global firm handles the bulk of its in-house legal and regulatory function from its northern powerhouse office in Leeds. The team is now looking to hire an additional in-house counsel working predominantly on the development and roll-out of risk and compliance initiatives across all of the firm's global offices, together with a range of day-to-day risk and compliance matters. More on the role - In-house risk and compliance roles are a great option for lawyers who are technically strong and commercially minded, still looking for a dynamic and fast-paced environment but wanting to get away from time-recording and relentless business development. - This opportunity with the Legal & Regulatory Compliance team sits within the wider in-house counsel team which is headed by the General Counsel - They deal with a broad range of work, including SRA compliance, FCA compliance, a range of sector-specific regulatory compliance for example Office of Nuclear Data, data protection, modern slavery, market abuse regulation, financial crime and money laundering. - They provide regular strategic advice on these areas to a range of client-facing teams within the business as well as looking after the firm's own regulatory responsibilities. - You would also deal with data protection issues, including data subject right requests, data privacy impact assessments and data breaches - You would take an active role in international operations team initiatives - This is a friendly close-knit team, which works well together and provides invaluable technical legal support across UK and international offices More about you - The role will suit a technically strong, service-focused and dynamic solicitor with at least two years' PQE, from a regulatory compliance or non-contentious commercial background - Solid academics and strong technical skills are a prerequisite here as you will be dealing with challenging and high quality work - You will have a passion for risk and compliance matters - You will have a pragmatic, commercial and solutions-focused approach to your work - You will enjoy working as part of a close-knit team The firm offers a top tier top market rate salary & benefits for this role, as well as a discretionary bonus scheme, and the opportunity for progression within the knowledge and risk team.
