Overview

Edenbrook are working with a top 10 life and pensions insurer based on the outskirts of Manchester, to source a Qualified Financial Accountant on a 12 fixed term contract. Please note Financial Services experience is highly desirable. In the role you will initiate and deliver improvements across Group Finance that enables Group Finance to become more efficient and effective. You will support the line manager in areas of technical knowledge of team processes. Key Responsibility; Provision of financial and analytical insight to generate and create financial value to Group Finance and key stakeholders across the wider Group. Take the lead in the identification and implementation of improvements to key processes for controls, effectiveness and efficiency. Provide SME support for key projects, and undertake the role of business lead on smaller scale projects. Pro-actively explore and identify opportunities to improve both processes and controls to deliver improved efficient, effective and controlled outcomes for key stakeholders. New lean, effective and controlled End to end processes are mapped and existing processes are reviewed and upgraded to reflect the changes. Progression of financial reviews on standalone initiatives, activities and projects at the request of the Senior Finance Manager and Head of Finance. Analytical review of key financial data and information and interpretation of results. Drive the improvement of capabilities within the team through knowledge transfer and provision of SME input. Preparation of reports to meet key financial regulatory and external requirements. Lead and provide commercial finance solutions on projects. Perform control self-assessments and retain of control evidence, report to the Finance Manager identification of deficiencies. Deliver high quality support to Finance senior managers and key stakeholders. To ensure that team risk responsibilities are understood and completed to the required standards, including those within and outside the team and how they align. Support the growth of lower grades within the team. Take ownership of your own capability development and coaching to others in the team. Technical Knowledge and Skills Required Degree and/or professional qualification in relevant discipline. Qualified Accountant or working towards qualification. Ability to demonstrate a sound level of knowledge Experience of dealing effectively with senior stakeholders. Ability to communicate in a professional and influential manner with colleagues, senior Executives and managers, committees and to third parties. Understanding of data processes, solutions, and how these can be used to track performance. Ability to shape and lead activities across multiple finance functions, influencing and managing senior leaders to produce a high quality result. Forward thinking / ability to spot opportunities and anticipate issues. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
