Overview

MECHANICAL DESIGN PROJECT MANAGER (MECHANICAL SERVICES TEAM) Purpose and Objectives of Post: To assist the Programme Manager in the provision of a professional mechanical services design and supervision facility in all client owned premises, retail, commercial and leisure. Duties/Responsibilities: To assist the Programme Manager (Design & Project Management) in the provision of a full professional engineering service. To design, prepare estimates, specifications and working drawings by CAD facilities to enable tenders to be sought for the relevant engineering service. Produce tender documentation and obtain tenders for mechanical services works via the Chest system. Assess tenders received and produce tender reports for clients. Obtain client approval and issue orders for mechanical services contracts Act as Contract Administrator for mechanical services contracts Carry out regular supervisory duties of mechanical installations, in conjunction with the Engineering Clerk of Works where necessary, to ensure work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the building contract. To be conversant with all current legislation and standards relevant to the Building Engineering profession. To carry out interim, final valuations and agreement of final accounts of engineering work related to Projects undertaken on behalf of the Client Departments. To assist in the preparation of reports in conjunction with the Programme Manager (Design & Project Management) for submission to Committee and working groups. To liaise with other disciplines within the Architectural Services, Officers from other Departments and outside organisations as appropriate. Adopt and carry out working procedures in accordance with the Architectural Practice's ISO 9001 accreditation for Quality Assurance. Assist the Programme Manager (Design & Project Management) in carrying out site surveys in connection with both Capital works and Revenue based projects to provide recommendations to the relevant Clients. To utilise the practice CAD facilities, pre-designed software programmes in the provision of engineering services for the Department's Clients. Whilst undertaking professional duties for the Department, ensure compliance with all issues relating to Health and Safety and CDM Regulations. To assist in the analysis of Projects in terms of risk assessment and provide advice in the compilation of Health and Safety Plans. To assist the Programme Manager (Design & Project Management) in working within agreed fee budgets for the provision of engineering design and supervision services. To undertake any other duties relevant to the post as deemed necessary by the - Programme Manager (Design & Project Management) Manage and monitor the engineering Clerk of Works work load and duties.
