JOB TITLE: CARE ASSISTANT-NIGHTS Your hours of duty: 8.30pm until 08.00am £8.80 PURPOSE OF POSITION: To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence and to help in the general day to day activities of the home. Care provided by the care assistants is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the residents own family and is not expected to include tasks that would normally be expected to be undertaken by a trained nurse. GENERAL RESPONABILITES: 1) To be a joint key worker with a nurse for a number of residents. 2) To assist residents who need help with going to bed including undressing, washing, bathing and toileting. 3) To help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use of care of aids and personal equipment. 4) To help care for residents who are dying 5) To help residents who may become distressed through talking to them during the night if required. 6) To make and change beds; tidy rooms; do light cleaning and empty commodes. 7) To inspect, launder and mend residents’ clothing. 8) To wash up; tidy and clear the lounges and bedrooms. 9) To read reports: take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed. 10) To write in the care plans on a regular basis. 11) To encourage residents to be as independent as possible. 12) To report to the nurse manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a resident. 13) To report to the Nurse on duty, the nurse manager and the proprietors immediately anything you think suspicious or that could be abuse of any kind. Training: Staff are required to attend in house training and outside training on a regular basis as indicated by the Nurse manger and Proprietors.
