An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading utilities supplier as a Safety Mentor, our client are currently seeking a Safety Mentor based in Chesterton ST5 9JQ. This a full-time temporary contract for 12 months paying in the region of £ 35,150, working a 37.5-hour week. ASAP home start is required. Job Purpose As our Safety Advisor/Coach you`ll become a part of a team of network-based Safety Advisors to ensure the delivery of quality assurance inspections on company activities and Construction Services to ensure the relevant activities are being correctly managed and delivered. Alongside this you`ll provide onsite monitoring/coaching of Engineering, Technical and Safety matters with respect to multiple work streams. Key accountabilities: Engineering Policy Compliance - Ensuring that Cadent Operations and Construction Services are operating within the policy boundaries in terms of technical and safety requirements and making suggestions in the definition of engineering and data policy. Information Sharing - Contributing to the process of sharing initiatives and innovation across the business and partners to optimise performance across all Cadent operations. Performance Management - Produce and manage a suitable programme and frequency of QA checks to ensure adequate coverage is achieved. Supporting the Engineering Support Manager to ensure high levels of performance are achieved and to be able to provide evidence of being able to deliver on targets set against you as an individual. Qualifications and Experience Required: Educated or suitably experienced in relevant engineering-based discipline (ideally a member of a professional body) with a breadth and depth of proven experience in engineering projects. Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation Experience of driving commercial value and enhanced safety performance Knowledge of company policies and procedures with detailed understanding of: - T/PM/MSL/1 - T/PR/ML & SL Suite of Documents - GD/PR/EM Suite of Documents - T/PR/TMP/ Suite of Documents - SCO 1, 2, 4 & 5 Experience in an Operational (Emergency or Repair) environment with an understanding of: - Experience/Understanding of conducting on site QA checks/audits - Liaising with customers and key stakeholders - Gas Escape Management - Mains and Service Laying - Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Supplier Contract Control Framework (SCCF) Contract Management Safety qualification (such as NEBOSH, IOSH Managing safely), HNC / GNO2 / Gas Safe or equivalent engineering qualification. Has or working toward SCO 1, 2, 4 & 5, NRSWA Operative and/or Supervisor SHEA Gas Safety Passport Assessor Qualification (D32/33, A1 or TAQA) Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to gain support and commitment from a wider operational group. In depth knowledge of relevant engineering policies, procedures and legislation, including management of safety. Collaboration with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders Working in a collaborative, matrix organisation Good IS capabilities and Full Driving Licence Occasional overnight stays are required when necessary.
