Overview

Job Title Hearing Equipment Assessor Salary £15,000 Hours 21 (3 days) Job Purpose To assist the charity in providing their services to the residents of the Borough at their main office, open surgeries, care homes and home visits across the borough to improve their quality of life and to help maintain or further their independence. Main Responsibilities and Duties 1. Assessments - Assessments are carried out on behalf of the local Council, with all referrals being first processed at Business Support in the Council. The assessments include; a. Home visits to clients. b. Discussion of the difficulties that the clients are experiencing with their hearing loss. c. Identifying the best assistive equipment for the client's need and demonstrate how to use them. d. Report and review all cases. e. Order, collect and deliver equipment from the Equipment Stores and to our office or client homes. f. Referrals to other services, e.g. fire service etc. 2. Services to include; a. Counselling. b. Hearing aid maintenance including re-tubing and supplying batteries. c. Otoscopy. d. Advice and information on our services and hearing loss. e. Support the Clinicians when necessary. 3. Appointments - Booking and maintaining the Main Appointment Diary, in consultation with other staff members, through shared information available regarding home visits, equipment and screening. 4. Record Keeping - Responsible for collecting accurate and detailed data on the clients that you contact. 5. Referrals - To be responsible for ensuring that all referrals are completed within 48 hours and are followed up. 6. General Support - As required to maintain the cohesion of the charity or as directed by the Centre Manager or Office Manager. 7. Reporting Issues - To refer any problems or issues arising from any of the above to the Centre Manager or Office Manager. Compassion and empathy; experience with people who are hearing impaired. Able to install and operate add-on technologies (technological gadgets, via optical link, HDMI etc). Excellent communication skills, oral and written understanding including a clear speaking voice.
