Overview
Our client are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join their team based in Havant on a permanent basis. The key activities and responsibilities of the role are: Perform day-to-day management and support of networks within a distributed operating environment Plan, prepare, implement, validate, and document all network changes Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and implement resolution of network related incidents Perform day-to-day management and support of network Security components within the operating environment Fulfil role of subject matter expert in specialist area(s), sharing knowledge with and coaching development of other team members Work closely with other team members to ensure provision of required services within associated performance targets. Be prepared to provide on-call support in a 24x7 environment (on a rota basis) Required skills, qualifications and experience Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a complex networking environment Experience of implementing and supporting IP networks, with ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers Excellent working knowledge of Wide Area Networks, (WAN), including Quality of Service (QoS) and routing protocols In-depth knowledge of: Cisco & Juniper switch administration Juniper & Checkpoint Firewall and Security device administration Load Balancer device administration DNS administration, including management of IP address allocation etc Experience of vulnerability scanning / penetration test tools Strong analytical skills with ability to investigate issues, diagnose root cause, and recommend appropriate corrective actions Proven ability to provide solutions to a wide range of challenging technical problems Enthusiastic self-starter with good listening and communication skills Capable of operating to tight schedules in a demanding environment Customer-focused attitude Desired skills, qualifications and experience Familiarity with the ITIL framework Good working knowledge of LAN Access Control Lists A working knowledge of other technical components within the same operational environment. i.e. MS windows, Linux Experience of working within a Cisco Nexus switch environment Knowledge of RADIS authentication and integration for LAN technologies
