Our client is a market leading supplier who are well established in their industry and provide a top-quality service to their customers. We have a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and experienced individual within the food production / supply industry to join their Quality Team in a Product Inspection Supervisor - Food role. The position would be ideal for somebody who's looking to take on more responsibility and to grow within a large organisation. Responsibilities: Take responsibility for the day to day functioning of the raw material Product Inspection team along with coordinating the team, organising resources, training and developing the team and new members. Foster a culture of collaborative working with Procurement, Production, Technical and Commercial functions in order to maximize raw material value, quality & reduce waste. Ensure that all raw material intake assessments are undertaken in a timely, accurate and reliable manner in compliance to raw material specifications. Ensure inspection reports are communicated to external customers and business unit stakeholders in a timely manner. Generate and obtain Sea, Land and Air arrival update of Raw Materials to know the number of shipments expected so as to organise and coordinate quality assessments or checks appropriately. Carry out container or lorry arrival checks which include vent setting; lorry set temperature, raw material temperature, location, retrieval, downloading and storage of all data loggers received, brief overview of raw material quality and CMR Sign off. Identify or categorise the Quality Defects observed during Quality Assessment into Progressive and Non-Progressive Quality Defects. Identify the level of waste observed during the Quality Assessment and classify as Red, Amber & Green (RAG). Inform Product Manager and Procurement teams of high-risk raw material. To monitor the condition and suitability of stock in storage and to highlight concerns to the business, including informing Product team & Buyers of stock that has deteriorated within its claim period. To be aware of the Food Safety Act and its implications regarding the operation of the business. To ensure that good working practice is always maintained, including clean as you go. To lead and monitor the team ensuring the correct staffing levels are in place to cover. To participate in 2nd and 3rd party audits. Skills & Experience: Previous experience in a Quality Assurance / Control, Food Production or Agricultural - growing role. Experience supervising or leading a team is advantageous. Internal audit experience is highly advantageous although not essential. Good communication skills - both written and verbal. Excellent time management and highly organised. Reliable and trustworthy. Knowledge of SAP, Navision or Prophet is advantageous although not essential. Additional Information: The working hours are Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday, 07:00 - 17:00 (fixed and depending on your preference).
