Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts and Business Services team in our Edinburgh office. The successful candidate will provide support to Managers and senior employees through a varied role which includes; preparation of management accounts, VAT returns and statutory financial statements. The role would also involve assisting with the development activities of the team, including reviewing new technology, processes, etc About us Scott-Moncrieff is one of Scotland's leading firms of auditors and business advisers. We are a strong, successful and resilient practice and have enjoyed sustained growth as we focus on delivering excellent client service. Requirements Preparation of monthly/quarterly VAT returns. Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts together with commentary. Planning annual work including setting budgets, fee quotes. Preparation of statutory financial statements from clients records maintained on Sage, Xero, etc. Providing analytical review of the figures in the accounts. Proofing of accounts and ensuring statutory disclosures are accurate. Provide a complete pack to managers for review which includes letter to the client, final accounts, a list of queries etc. Preparation of fee notes to be issued to client. Provide training for clients on accounting software, including Xero and Sage. Active involvement in the business advisory plan which could include renewing new accounting software/add-ins, renewing internal processes. Assist junior members of the team with basic accounting issues, helping them to develop. Experience, Skills and Knowledge required Relevant previous experience required within professional services. Work both autonomously and as part of a team Effective team working skills Effective planning and organising skills to ensure that the varied workload is managed effectively Accurate decision making Good communication skills and the ability to engage at all levels Good client service skills Self-motivated IT literate; good knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of corporation tax software.
