Peabody have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join our teambased in Colchester . This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis in return for a competitive salary of £18,250 per annum plus sleep in: £73.89. The Housing Support Worker role: We are looking for Housing Support Workers to work in our Colchester supported Housing hostels for single people and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will have a good knowledge of welfare benefits, Risk assessments and support planning processes, safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children, able to promote independent living skills, advice and guidance around tenancy management, employment education and training. Responsibilities of our Housing Support Worker include: - Provide/ offer support to an individual licensee through a planned assessment and review process - Ensure that licensees adhere to the responsibilities of their tenancy and of the scheme - Report illegal activity by licensees to the Manager and the Police if appropriate - Minimise as far as possible conflict and confrontation within the service between licensees and visitors - Promote the integration of the licensees into the local community - Provide opportunities by which licensees will be enabled to develop independent living skills - Provide support and assistance to licensees in achieving their personal goals and aspirations - Encourage licensees to recognise the benefits of additional support services related to their individual needs and assist them in accessing these services - Guide the licensee in daily living tasks helping them to develop the skills needed - Encourage and support licensees to pursue social/recreational activities, training and employment opportunities - That there is licensee participation, involvement and inclusion throughout the service. To ensure the licensee's views are sought and heard in relation to organisation and support issues - Involve licensees in the decision making processes whereby individuals and groups take on responsibilities for themselves and others - Provide basic welfare benefits advice, including referral to specialist welfare benefit advisors and liaison with benefit agencies as appropriate - Be aware of the risks that licensees and service users pose to themselves and others and to follow the Risk Assessment and Management procedure - Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures, giving feedback on content where appropriate - Maintain service users and company confidentiality What we’re looking for in our Housing Support Worker: - Approachable demeanour - Good administrative skills - Good verbal and written communication skills - Ability to work well in challenging situations - Able to conduct a risk assessment within a housing setting - Able to keep accurate records - Good organisational skills - A sound understanding of Professional Boundaries - Excellent communication and inter-personal skills - A desire to promote licensee involvement and participation - Experience of working with vulnerable groups and/or young people - Able to work within a rolling shift pattern (24 hour cover) - Able to work at a similar service within the locality - Able to use IT (e.g. Word) for basic functions and inputting - Demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities and diversity Benefits of becoming our Housing Support Worker: - 25 days leave plus bank holidays - Paid Mileage at 45p per mile - Up to 4% pension contribution matched 1:1 - Spot Bonus awards - Long Service awards - Paid Induction Training - Paid Enhanced DBS - Annual pay review If you feel have the skills and experience to become our Care and Support Worker please click ‘apply’ today, we’d love to hear from you Closing date : Monday 13th April 2020 This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89959724
