Product Developer [Electricity] – London - £35,000 - £40,000 annual bonus 25 days holiday 60% off own brand products My client, a hardware, furniture and lighting company based in London are currently on the hunt for a new Product Developer to specifically focus on their electrical products. Targeting high-end customers, both private individuals as well as commercial groups, the company has grown it's turnover from zero to £10m in just 8 years and anticipate growing by another £6m in 2020. The company are clearly going places and pride themselves on taking every day items and making them extraordinary using mostly natural resources. As a Product Developer you will be involved in all electrical product development, managing the testing process, making amendments and using your knowledge of compliance to identify any remaining areas of risk. The company's main markets are currently Europe & North America but they are aiming to become more established in Japan over the course of the next few years. This will involve new procedures of certification and labelling and ensuring all compliance requirements are met for all markets.For the right person, career progression into a Technical Manager role is very likely. Other duties & responsibilities will include: · Managing the development of new ranges of consumer electrical fixtures including: Lighting control switches & dimmers, Power outlets, Data communication outlets etc · Establishing quality standards and inspection processes on new developments, including manufacturing tolerances and finishing limits. · Interpreting international and local electrical safety standards, and applying them to development of new projects as applicable. · Managing the certification process of new products to the required applicable standards. · Applying practical understanding of electrical products and their installation to assist with customer service enquiries (when required), to identify potential faults and provide advice towards a resolution. · Creating detailed timelines and managing resources across a number of open development projects at a time. · Maintaining and expanding the existing supply chain, including rolling factory risk assessments and regular international visits. · The generation & upkeep of supporting technical files containing (but not limited to): instruction manuals, technical specifications, technical drawings, bills of materials, product labelling & test documentation. You will ideally have a qualification or a strong background in Product Design, together with an excellent knowledge of electrical wiring or electronics.
