Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Tax department for a Tax Trainee , offering a full training contract towards the ATT Qualification, study support, mentorship and a long term career opportunity. Working with a well established and successful team, gaining experience to become a key player in processing tax returns and providing the whole range of tax compliance support to personal tax clients. The position will involve a number of different aspects including preparing tax computations, processing tax returns and HM Revenue & customs documents on behalf of clients. Assignments will be undertaken both in the office and at client’s premises. Trainees will have support and on the job training from managers and other senior staff. During the training you will be expected to develop an understanding of the practical issues involved in delivering a high quality service to clients. Both practical and theoretical training will be supported, with the aim to becoming a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians. A very wide range of Taxation work experience and on-the-job training will be provided within a busy accountancy practice. Training will include core papers of personal tax, business tax, accounting, practice administration and ethics as well a choice from 4 non-core papers. Support from Qualified personnel and 'On the Job Training' Qualifications Required To achieve the qualification and to consistently give the best and most up to date advice to clients, you will need to be competent at studying and passing exams. Your historic academic or professional results are used as a guide when shortlisting however we will also consider other factors such as experience, other qualifications and skills . Ideally the following criteria will apply: A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) mostly at Grade A-B / 9 - 5, including Maths and English and a minimum of 3 A Levels (or equivalent) grade A- B. If you possess a degree, ideally you will have achieved a 2:1 or above. Skills Required Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook; Must be able to work well as part of a team with good interpersonal skills; Accurate typing and/or data entry skills; Numerate & detail conscious; Professional & hard working; Driven and enthusiastic Ideally prior knowledge of tax, but general interest in business, accountancy and tax will be expected.
