Job Description As part of our continued growth and development, we are currently looking to recruit a Head of Commercial Finance Lending to join our Commercial Finance (CF) division. Reporting into the CEO, Commercial Finance, you will play a key role in monitoring external market conditions / industry developments affecting CF and provide recommended actions to the CF Board in order to address risk factors which could impact on business performance. You’ll also be responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Group’s Credit Risk Management Framework in respect of the CF business in order to establish Together’s approach to risk management and ensure the effective identification, management and mitigation of credit risk. In addition, working closely with the Group CRO and Head of Credit Risk, you’ll help to foster a strong risk management culture whilst providing leadership on lending decisions as part of the CF Lending Committee. To be considered, you’ll have held mandates in previous roles and possess a strong lending background. In addition, you’ll have an in depth knowledge of risk management frameworks and credit risk through the 3 lines of defence with a particular focus on application across all front line functions. Responsibilities Ownership of the mandate process and CF lending standards including governance and monitoring; Contribute to lending decisions on more complex cases, supporting the wider CF business in making commercially robust decisions in support of meeting customer requirements; Contribute to and oversee CF’s Credit Risk appetite and, with approval from CF Board, develop CF’s Credit Risk policies in conjunction with the Groups Credit function, providing oversight and review of activities; Review historical lending to identify thematic issues; Work to jointly implement recommendations to improve front line and ongoing risk management; Deepen front line understanding of the product mix, performance and overall returns which will inform how capital is deployed across different products and channels; Work with Treasury & external funders regarding appropriate funding structures to support business goals; Manage monthly lending budgets across Channels and Products; Broaden credit risk understanding, skills and application across all front line functions including Lending Directors and Underwriting Relationship Managers; Ensure there is appropriate risk governance and reporting in line with the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure the Executive and Board have a thorough understanding of the credit risk profile of the business through 1st line; Review CF’s lending/pricing strategy, challenging first line’s risk assessment and mitigation approach; Participate and represent Together within the secured lending industry on operational risk and credit lending matters. Qualifications Essential Experience Proven real estate lending experience having held mandates in existing and previous roles; Expertise within the Secured lending market; Detailed understanding of the UK’s regulatory requirements; Extensive Board reporting experience; Strong background within Credit risk with a broad knowledge of risk mandates, policies and frameworks; Analytical and logical mindset coupled with broad commercial/business experience and therefore the ability to manage risk within a commercial context; Ability to manage change and implement solutions in a fast paced, commercial environment; Strong communicator with excellent influencing skills at all levels - including the ability to challenge positively and handle difficult situations; First class decision making, planning and prioritisation skills.
