Overview

Primary Purpose of Post The Strategic Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting the Bishop’s Senior Staff with the delivery of the strategic programme. The role will ensure that strategic projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget. The Programme Manager will provide oversight of the strategic programme from inception of ideas through implementation to delivery of projects, ensuring outcomes are well-defined, appropriately prioritised, and delivered to plan. The role will include the sourcing of external investment funding, preparing applications and producing reports for funders. Main Duties and Responsibilities Define and prioritise initiatives: Ensure that strategic initiatives are clearly aligned with the diocesan strategy Ensure strategic proposals have clarity and viability Work with bishops and archdeacons to flesh-out proposals, including detailed outcomes and the process by which those outcomes will be achieved Regularly test the viability of development proposals Work with external funding providers including the SDU to submit funding proposals Ensure the best use of central resources to support the development programme Initiate the programme: Facilitate the launch of externally-funded strategic projects, ensuring they are appropriately planned, resourced, measured and managed. Establish appropriate programme governance, including risk management, change management, regular reporting, and budget management Work with the diocesan and local communications teams to ensure consistent and effective messaging Establish project review and support processes to ensure teams are equipped to deliver successfully. Ensure intervention processes are developed to pause, or if necessary, terminate projects that have demonstrated they will not deliver Capture and publish lessons learned, and support research studies Manage programme: Assist with day to day operational aspects of the project Track progress against a detailed project plan and project deliverables, outcomes and measures (lead and lag) Manage any changes in project scope, schedule and costs, escalating to programme board as required Support parish clergy and operations managers to manage day to day operational aspects of the project in liaison with other diocesan colleagues. Address project issues and risks, escalating to Programme Board accordingly Report project status to Programme Board on a regular basis Produce an annual report for the Strategic Investment Board This job description provides a guide to the duties and responsibilities of the post and is not an exhaustive list.
