This is an exciting time to join this rapidly growing team in Bristol. As the Senior Business Development Manager, you will also have line management responsibility for a Business Development Executive and two Business Development Managers. We are looking for an experienced Senior BDM or a BDM looking to step up to the next level. You must have legal or professional services experience to succeed in this role. As a member of the Support team, you will be a vital part of their continued success. You will be recognised for your hard work and support. Main Responsibilities As Senior Business Development Manager, the main duties of your role will include: Planning and budgeting Group and Sector plans - work with Group, Team and Sector Leaders to develop and deliver strategic business plans and annual BD/marketing plans. Location plans - work closely with BD colleagues in each of the key locations to develop and deliver location-specific BD and marketing activities. BD budgets - create and manage BD budgets, maintaining control over spend and ROI. Business development Sales - manage a pipeline of targets for your areas, ensuring that the firm can convert as many of these opportunities as possible through lead generation campaigns. Client development - work with Client Relationship Partners and the Client Development team to develop relationships with the existing clients. New product development - work with the FutureLaw team and your Group/Sector to identify, develop, package and sell new legal products and services. Bids - lead the development of bids and presentations with support from the Bids team. Build a network - develop your own network of clients, targets, referrers and industry bodies and use these to support the firm’s business development and marketing activities. Support the delivery of cross-firm BD projects as they arise. Marketing communications Thought leadership - support the Marketing Communications team in planning and delivering thought leadership campaigns. Ensure that campaigns reach relevant clients, targets and referrers and are used to develop these relationships. Track and follow up on all new business opportunities. Legal/industry updates - ensure that the updates produced by the lawyers and knowledge management professionals reach relevant clients, targets and referrers. PR - support the Marketing Communications team in identifying potential press articles, comments and opinion pieces for national, trade and regional press. Marketing materials - establish the needs of your Group/Sector and work with the Marketing Communication team to deliver materials in line with our brand guidelines. Events - work with the Events Manager to create a programme of events that will help to meet your BD objectives. Challenge old ways of doing things to ensure that events stand out from competitors. Website and social media - work with the Digital Communications Manager to ensure that the website is promoting your service lines and sectors as effectively as possible. Encourage the use of social media within your Group/Sector. The Ideal Candidate Applicants should have the following skills and experience: Graduate or equivalent with BD experience in a legal or professional services environment to at least Business Development Manager level. Enthusiastic, confident, pro-active, persistent and robust. Strong communication, organisational and project management skills. Excellent written skills. Commercial - able to understand the business context in which the firm and its clients operate. Good humoured and positive outlook. Strong relationship building skills. Knowledge and experience of commercial/corporate legal services and the UK’s digital sector would be advantageous.
