Preferred start date May 2020 and project end date due December 2020. • Reporting to - Programme Director Application Dates • Deadline for applications - Wednesday 15 April, midnight • Interviews - Friday 1 May About Gallery Town Gallery Town, Rotherham is embarking on a bold new phase of development with the backing of a partnership of businesses, cultural partners (including Yorkshire Sculpture Park, ROAR Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance, Clifton Park Museum and Arts Council England) and Rotherham Council. This new programme will see Gallery Town reposition itself as a new creative agency for Rotherham, specialising in art in the public realm. This £150k, multi-agency project will drive the development of a new creative vision, collaborating with local organisations, artists and communities to set a framework for future commissioning of public art. As part of the project, a new commission will be developed for Rotherham town centre. We want to create a world-class creative programme which inspires and enthrals communities, visitors and businesses alike. Purpose of the Role Gallery Town is looking for a Marketing Associate who has a passion for finding creative ways of engaging and developing audiences. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Programme Director, artists, board of trustees, and external partners to shape the messaging of Gallery Town’s major new project. You will devise and implement captivating campaigns that grow audiences both online and at the projects and events we deliver. You will maintain the profile of Gallery Town, and oversee the development of the new brand and raise awareness of Gallery Town locally and nationally. The successful candidate will have a strategic approach to communications. You respond seamlessly to analytics and also know how to translate complex ideas into accessible copy and media. You enjoy what you do and know how to impart that enthusiasm to others: both internally and externally. Specific Responsibilities • Developing an overall communications and audience strategy in collaboration with the Programme Director and Gallery Town’s board • Devising creative means of engaging with audiences and delivering effective campaigns to promote Gallery Town’s programme • Work with a design agency to develop and build a new brand identity for Gallery Town • Commissioning, creating, and updating content including text, images, video and audio • Editing our website and publishing to all our media and social media channels • Producing and organising the distribution of marketing materials • Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of strategy and activity, including audience research and analytics • Acting as the lead contact for PR • Developing and managing relationships with partners and stakeholders to ensure our work is appropriately foregrounded Skills and Experience Essential • Excellence experience in marketing and communications • Experience of working in the arts • Proven ability to communicate ideas in both writing and verbally • Comfortable working in a team and with external partners • Able to work independently • Experience of growing and broadening audiences • Creative approach to running campaigns • Active commitment to accessibility and inclusion Desirable • Experience of commissioning freelance creatives (photography, film, design) • Experience of creating content directly (copywriting, photography, animation)
