Summary World Land Trust (WLT) is seeking a second writer/journalist to join their communications team and deliver engaging and creative content that will inspire new and existing supporters and capture the public interest. Working with WLT WLT is based in the UK and is unique within the conservation world. The Trust has grown from small beginnings, saving critically threatened forest in Belize, to become an internationally respected conservation organisation with a proven track record of more than 30 years, working with overseas conservation NGOs on the protection of threatened habitats. WLT has developed its modus operandi without losing its vision, integrity and transparency. You will be passionate about the natural world and be expected to align with the ethos and vision of WLT and become fluent in WLT’s work and its projects early on. What you’ll be doing The Communications Officer will actively support the Communications Manager and wider team in producing creative content; writing, editing and updating content for the website and printed publications which engages our audiences; undertaking essential editorial functions; researching new stories and editing blogs. You will be working with a Videographer, drafting press releases and assisting in the co-ordination of social media activities. Who we’re looking for You will be an excellent communicator with a minimum of two years’ writing/journalism experience, with strong editing, copy-editing and proofreading skills. Sharing our passion about environmental issues, you will have a proven ability to write compelling copy for different audiences and be able to explain complex issues in an accessible and engaging manner. A team player, but also confident working under your own initiative, you will be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, be able to work effectively under pressure, and prioritise your workload to meet tight deadlines.
