Job Description
Are you a newly qualified nurse or an experienced nurse who is looking to gain experience in an acute setting? We welcome applications from Staff Nurses who would like to join our friendly, vibrant team within the Emergency Department at Maidstone Hospital You will join an established team of nurses who have a wealth of experience in emergency care. We have recently introduced new initiatives such as GP streaming, Emergency Care Paramedics, and the expansion of our Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit. We work as a team to deliver high quality emergency care to patients presenting with a broad spectrum of conditions within our department which comprises of a 4 bedded resuscitation room, 11 majors cubicles, a rapid assessment area, designated paediatric area, CDU and minor injuries. Our ED offers an educationally focused environment. We are committed to developing and supporting our staff with their career pathway and have strong links with both Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church Universities. You will also have the support of a Practice Development Nurse who will support your development alongside your team leader and the senior nursing team. To work with us you will need to demonstrate a kind and compassionate attitude. You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic nurse with excellent communication skills, who is passionate about your work and wants to be part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering a high standard of care to patients. This role offers the opportunity to develop core skills and consolidate previous experiences in a supportive emergency care setting making it the ideal next step for nurses already working in an acute setting to develop their skills and knowledge further. To be considered for this role you will be * a registered nurse with 6 months post qualification experience * able to evidence recent and ongoing professional development You will be expected to attend the Trust's Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm. Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level.
