REF: DW1474 LOCATION: Barnsley, South Yorkshire JOB TITLE: Sports / Leisure Centre Manager SALARY & BENEFITS: £29,435 to £32,158 per annum plus benefits including 47 days annual leave entitlement (including bank and public holidays), access to the Pension Scheme, a commitment to support job related training and development and access to a range of other staff benefits WORKING HOURS: Full Time 37 hours per week THE COMPANY: Are you a motivated and learner-focused person with a sports and fitness background, who also has managerial or supervisory experience? We are looking for an experienced and high-performing individual who is customer and student-focused, target driven and have a positive, can-do attitude to join as a new Sports Centre Manager with Barnsley College. The new Sports / Leisure Centre Manager will be responsible for the efficient, effective and economic operations of all sports facilities at Barnsley College. They will lead and manage a team of staff to build a reputation and brand, making the facility and College the leading provider for sport within the borough. The College will be renowned for delivering first class sport, health, fitness and recreation opportunities and services to the entire student population, local sports clubs/groups and the wider community. In addition the Sports / Leisure Centre Manager will also be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Health and Safety for Sport, Public Services, Travel and Tourism. The position would suit an experienced and high-performing individual who is customer and student-focused, target driven and have a positive, can-do attitude. You will develop and support both apprentices and the Sports Village staff to achieve their full potential and as a leader you will accept nothing other than ‘outstanding’ outcomes and levels of performance. THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Sports / Leisure Centre Manager position will need to be a fit and active person who has previous experience of operational supervision / management, and will need to have relevant qualifications or certificates to instruct specific fitness-based classes (e.g. Spinning). You will need to be someone who has evidence of continuous development and will ideally hold a relevant qualification, such as a ISRM, ILAM or FIA Supervisory / Management Certificate or Diplomas, but this is not essential for candidates with the right background and experience. You will need to have experience of writing and developing H&S operating standards, policies and procedures, experience of inducting, training and developing staff into a specialist environment, and experience of sourcing and developing new business and income opportunities. Candidates will also need to be excellent communicators who have the ability to network and liaise with people at all levels, will need to have good IT skills, and will need to be someone who can work well under pressure and to deadlines. In addition, candidates will need to live within commutable distance to Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Sports / Leisure Centre Manager role in Barnsley :- Experience in a similar sports/fitness operational management or supervisory role is essential, or holding a relevant level 4 (or equivalent/higher) qualification Will need relevant qualifications or certificates to instruct specific fitness-based classes (e.g. Spinning) Will need to be an excellent communicator who can motivate and lead Good Health & Safety knowledge is essential Ability to work flexibly (evenings and weekends) to meet the needs of the business is essential Will need adequate means to commute to Barnsley, South Yorkshire Although not essential, experience working in an sports education environment would be desirable Does this sound like you?
