Overview

This is an overview of the role: Government has provided a £200m grant fund to remediate private sector residential blocks with ACM cladding (the ‘Fund’). This mirrors the arrangements for funding in the social sector although it has additional complexities and an additional focus in some key areas. The Homes England Building Remediation Team operates the social and private sector Funds, outside London, for MHCLG. As the Building Remediation Senior Manager you will support the successful operation and delivery of the private sector Fund by caseworking a number of individual applications through to start on site and final payments on a day to day basis, necessitating close working and an effective relationship with MHCLG, grant applicants and professional advisers who support the diligence and contracting requirements of the Fund. You will contribute to internal reporting and briefings and will need to liaise with a range of Homes England staff accordingly. The successful person will be responsible for: • The Fund currently has a high profile politically and a high degree of sensitivity. We are looking therefore for someone with experience of managing and delivering high profile projects and/or programmes. Experience of working on construction projects and with developers and contractors will be a distinct advantage. • Being involved in the broader building safety work of the team. • Supporting programme lead at Homes England as part of programme governance both internally and externally (MHCLG). • Line management and member of a delivery team including external technical specialists responsible for contracting and diligence. • Working collaboratively across teams and undertake work as necessary to fulfil the objectives of Homes England. In order to complete the responsibilities for this role, the successful candidate will have: • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience. Have the ability and experience to lead and motivate a team. • Experience in programme and project management with the ability to work to tight deadlines. • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment. Have strong communication skills and ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure. Strategic understanding and thinking. • Collaborate values - Close partnership working with colleagues at the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government to ensure the programme is meeting strategic and commercial objectives. • Commercial values - Able to demonstrate an understanding of the wider Government housing agenda.
