Our in-house estates and projects team are responsible for providing an effective estate management service including capital projects, backlog maintenance, improving facilities and portfolio performance monitoring. Due to an on-going pipeline of work and growth, we are now looking to appoint an additional Building Surveyor to join the team. Your new role As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting on a range of technical condition surveying services, estate future planning of backlog maintenance and capital projects. These will typically include assessing the condition of buildings, programme scheduling, planned maintenance, refurbishments, minor improvements, and external works. Occasionally, and as you develop professionally, you will be required to provide support on larger capital schemes and projects. Specific responsibilities may include; Undertake condition surveys, programme scheduling, maintenance plans, planning permissions and building efficiency reports. Project management of small to medium scale refurbishment and construction projects. Assist the Surveyors, Project Managers and Head of Project and Estate Management in the delivery of larger and more complex projects. Prepare work specifications and tender documents. Undertake contract administration, managing contractor payments and compiling progress reports. Procure contracts, manage project budgets and review contractor tender submissions. Compile and oversee external teams of consultants and contractors and represent the business at progress / site meetings. What you'll need to succeed In order to succeed with in the role as a Building Surveyor, you will need; Experience in a range of Building Surveying tasks, such as Condition Surveys Experience in assisting and delivering on a range of small to medium scale construction projects. Good knowledge of construction processes and project management principles. Proficient in writing work specifications and tender documents. Strong levels of communication, both written and verbal. A construction related degree, preferably in Building Surveying, or equivalent experience. Desirably working towards a professional accreditation such as RICS / APM / CIOB.
