Overview

Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) are seeking to recruit a Senior Building Control Surveyor. EFDC are in the process of changing how they think about service delivery in the future and this role is a key part of that process. The drivers for change are: Customers – building services around the people we serve Efficiency – Making the very best of our people, time and money Effectiveness – An agile flexible workforce achieving our ambitions and working together and in partnership As the Senior Building Control Surveyor you will work as part of a small, motivated team and will be responsible for examining plans, negotiating with applicants and advising on different ways to satisfy the Building Regulations. You will also be required to conduct site visits to inspect building works under construction and provide technical advice to members of the public and elected Members. As part of this you will investigate and qualify acceptable solutions, ensuring matters of Health & Safety and Building Regulation compliance are adhered to. To be successful for the Senior Building Control Surveyor vacancy, you must have a recognised building qualification/degree and a sound knowledge of Building Regulations and the building process. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as you will be liaising with members of the public and building relationships with architects and builders. You must be IT literate and possess a full driving licence. Access to a vehicle is essential.
