Post Title: Accounts Assistant Responsible to: Accountant Hours: 37 hours per week Salary GBP 17,187- GBP 18,173 per annum (A14 - A17 Business Support) Status: Permanent Reaseheath College is one of the UK's leading specialist land-based colleges with over 3000 full-time students and 800residential students in Further Education, Higher Education and Apprentices. The College has an annual turnover of GBP 36M, employs 700 staff and has recently completed a GBP 30M development of the site. The College has a vacancy for an Accounts Assistant within the Finance Department. The role offers the opportunity to develop and enhance existing skills, whilst assisting in delivery of the organisations mission and strategic objectives. The role requires a minimum Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in Maths and English and an AAT qualification would be desirable but is not essential. Training on the College Finance system will be given but a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential. The Key area of focus for the role would be Student Finance which includes the following tasks: o Providing advice and guidance to all students regarding costs and financial assistance available o Assessment of bursary applications and payment of awards to students o Raising sales invoices o Collecting payments and credit control duties o Cash processing o Completing control account reconciliations o Supporting Information Events, College Open Days and Lambing Weekends In addition there may bean element of other Finance work on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash and Banking. The successful candidate should show accuracy and attention to detail along with the ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines. Please note this role constitutes 'regulated activity' as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this.
