Extended Assurance Manager - Financial Services - CASS

At EY, our Financial Services Assurance Team is fully integrated, working across borders to help clients deal with issues that are critical to their success, and winning new business as a result. The opportunity Extended Assurance is part of our Financial Services Assurance practice and provides ongoing assurance to regulators, management and directors on the execution, governance and controls around processes that do not impact the financial statements. Current turbulent markets are driving significant changes to all firms’ internal processes. As a Manager in the CASS team within Extended Assurance, you will lead and deliver CASS assurance engagements, as well as provide high quality advice to clients on the interpretation of FCA CASS rules, helping clients to anticipate and understand regulatory and policy change as well as working with clients to implement process or system changes required to ensure compliance with the FCA CASS rules. Your key responsibilities EY’s Financial Services Extended Assurance team work with clients to provide assurance that an organisation’s business activities are operating effectively in addressing these challenges. This is done through the appropriate use of assurance skills, robust audit and other methodologies coupled with industry insight in the Financial Services market. As a Manager within the Extended Assurance CASS team, you will have responsibility for: Leading the delivery of client assets assurance engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including custodians, investment banks, broker dealers etc. Providing high quality advice and support to financial services firms in relation to compliance with the FCA's regime for client money and assets, and in relation to anticipating and understanding the impact of policy changes Leading review engagement on clients’ CASS related functions and delivering findings and recommendation reports on CASS compliance, control gaps and weaknesses and remediation actions Facilitating the implementation of clients’ CASS governance structures Managing CASS related client projects and across several work streams simultaneously and managing senior client stakeholder expectations Providing in-house and client training on CASS Manage client engagements including quality and risk management considerations Managing teams of various sizes and abilities Manage engagement commercials and billing Working across service lines You will work in complex multi-disciplinary teams, with responsibility for the overall execution of smaller projects and individual components of larger projects, under the guidance and direction of Managers, Directors and Partners. Skills and attributes for success We are looking for assurance professionals with have a strong background in Financial Services You will use your expertise in assurance methodologies to perform engagements in compliance with the firm’s and industry standards You will be flexible in your working style to encompass working both in the office, as well as client site and potentially travelling internationally You should have experience of working in assurance, risk or controls projects either as an auditor or consultant Knowledge and experience of working in a dynamic, demanding environment is essential Individuals who can demonstrate intellect, drive and focus, and the ability to succeed at EY To qualify for the role, you must have External audit or internal controls/audit experience Proven experience of working effectively in a team Evidence of working in an assurance related role either in a professional services firm or in industry with a blue-chip employer Particular industry specialism in Financial services, either in Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management or Insurance Significant experience in delivering high quality technical support and quality assurance over CASS engagements, demonstrated through leading and delivering CASS audits, CASS s166 reviews, CASS advisory engagements A degree and / or a recognized profession accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CA) A thorough understanding of FCA CASS rules and requirements, including new and proposed changes Ideally, you’ll also have Experience of Risk Assurance projects including Client Assets Reviews (CASS) Professional qualification ACA/ CA/ ACCA / US CPA qualified (ICAEW, ICAS, Irish Institute or equivalent international qualification) or an equivalent in industry, ACCA, CIMA Prior exposure and knowledge to financial services regulation desirable, including EMIR, AIFMD, MiFID What we look for Your goal will be to help clients achieve their potential - and you can expect to do the same.
