Overview

Working as part of a wider media team, the role will include management accounts, VAT, as well as production accounting specific to theatre productions, such as withholding tax and royalties. Description Preparation of management and production accounts for the theatre portfolio VAT and payroll knowledge with experience in a fast paced environment Awareness of: theatre contras and relationship with the theatre operator Production costing and related accounting practice Royalties computation and investors distribution Payroll challenges with high volume of new hires and equity/musician/workplace pensions FEU and withholding tax beneficial Comfortable with production running accounts and tight weekly reporting deadlines Attention to details, consistent with formats and reporting, keen eye to spot trends with inquisitive mind challenging work previously done Great organisation skills, following procedures documenting methodology followed Confident when talking to clients, including attending their premises when required Ability to undertake the tight theatre deadlines Demonstrate a strong understanding of royalties and withholding tax Data processing Reconciliation of control accounts- Bank, purchase ledger, sales ledger, PAYE, wages etc Payroll reconciliation and analysis Journal entries Calculation and posting of accruals and prepayments Preparation of VAT returns and associated legislation returns, including cash accounting and partial exemption Preparation of year end accounts to 1st draft stages Ability to communicate confidently with Kingston Smith Partners/Managers regarding your client Profile Experience/understanding of working with theatre clients Advance knowledge of Excel Competent with manual and computerised bookkeeping Able to produce weekly accounts for the theatre portfolio Clear and confident communication techniques and ability to feedback to all members of staff Strong organisational skills Ability to manage time to meet deadlines Able to travel to all areas of London and occasionally other locations if required Good IT skills including confidence with using Sage Line 50 and Excel Online software experience across a diverse range of packages is advantageous Applicants with previous experience of dealing with a Theatre client portfolio or Tour accounting will have an advantage. However we will provide sector specific training and support to applicants who are able to demonstrate a broad range of skills relevant to the role but who are new to production accounting.
