Overview
A specialist manufacturer based in the Chesterfield area with international global presence, have a permanent opportunity for an external Sales Manager, reporting in to the Group Commercial Director to oversee new, and capitalise on existing business opportunities. Covering UK and Ireland. The role will encompass the following: To develop and increase profitable sales business through existing sales channels and, in particular, to increase and expand profitable sales in new and/or dormant markets, via new distributors and agents Build a Lean culture of a sustainable continuous improvement mind-set across the Group in order to fulfil customer needs, focusing on aligning, simplifying and improving processes Facilitate and promote the Continuous Improvement Cycle: Identify, Plan, Execute and Review Work smarter not harder; reduce waste; focus on quality, improve employee engagement satisfied customer Develop and implement sales and business development strategies for specific markets as requested by your line manager and/or the board. The proposed strategies to achieve contract sales and profit targets in line with company objectives Meet key accounts as detailed on a regular basis to establish and maintain relationships, sell in new products and services, and ensure customer service expectations are met and exceeded Support commercial policies and actively participate in strategies as developed and communicated by senior management Assist and support distributors and agents in your assigned regions, areas and markets ensuring that any sales and marketing resources are applied effectively to support international contracts with utilities and pipeline contractors Manage and regularly evaluate existing distributors and customers and the activity in their markets: Sales v Targets Sale v ROI Market activity including competitor activity, price levels, new products, technical specifications, working practices, political developments, market structures etc. Set pricing/margin strategy for contracts to ensure the company retains the business and maximises profitability Gather market information and feed to your line manager, the team and marketing manager to help assess and revise company marketing strategies Actively develop an 'alliance/partnering relationship’ with all key customers Identify new products, services and methods of working in order to maintain the competitive position of Fusion and its global distributors and agents Identify, monitor and record competitor activity in your regions/markets Define and implement strategies needed to respond to competitor activity and maintain business levels Constantly review market trends in an effort to identify new supply opportunities in UK & Irish markets Maintain a folder of up-to-date contact information for all current, prospective and dormant customers and other stakeholders such that, should you be assigned a new region, a colleague could readily pick up portfolio of business with minimal disruption to customer service The ideal candidate will be in possession of the following experience/attributes: Solid background in a manufacturing environment and technical sales (essential) Approximately 5 years’ experience is needed to perform the job at a competent level Proven experience of technical sales, distribution management and managing an existing customer base Highly experienced in working under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to set & meet personal targets, combined with the flexibility to adjust to workload priorities to take account of new deadlines Interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to customer service Awareness of wider Company issues and relevant legislation. Required to keep informed of changes in legislation and departmental policy to deliver correct advice Ability to organise and prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality, and produce/process documents accurately Good written and numerical skills IT knowledge, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint A flexible, forward-thinking approach to work, along with the ability to work as part of a team Full UK Driver’s Licence & valid Passport The role is offered with, the following perks/benefits: A salary, competitive and commensurate with experience £35k-£43k negotiable 5k car allowance Pension 6% ER contribution Holiday entitlement 24 days 1 after 1 year Health insurance Westfield Health level 1 Life assurance annual salary multiplied by 2.5
