Overview
Quest Search & Selection are partnering with a successful high street and online retailer who are currently looking for a Junior Garment technologist to join their Womenswear department. This international business looks after Mens, Womens and Childrenswear and have over 60 stores nationwide. Your role will be to look after the technical and quality aspect of the clothing designs while working closely with buying teams to ensure that every garment is in line with their overall business strategy that the product is delivered on time and that the quality is fit for purpose. You will support the Technologist to lead the team to deliver the department quality and work closely with the product teams to deliver a commercial range that maximises sales and profit opportunities. As a Junior Garment Technologist, your main responsibilities will be: Paying close attention to the production techniques and sampling of garments Providing knowledge on the development process while paying close attention to quality and fit Seasonally review the spec library to add/amend as required using customer feedback/benchmarking Attending weekly meetings with buying and design teams to provide technical support on production processes Ensuring that all products are in line with legal and industry standards. Identify product risk at sign off and with buyer and supplier to mitigate quality risks Work with buying and design team to ensure specs are created in time for tech pack deadlines Support in the Sourcing of Product to deliver quality, value and continuity of supply in line with our company aims Regularly review competitor's garments to review block specifications to deliver customers best fit in the market Developing an understanding of price margins for products To be successful in this Junior Garment Technologist position, you must have: Experienced assistant or junior technologist, especially in Womenswear Ideally has understanding of multi-product womenswear materials and product types including technicalities of garments Ability to fit and seal a product on the stand, then translate in clear and concise fit comments That you have an understanding of manufacturing processes including product and fabric construction Excellent communication skills in order to maintain relationships with design teams Degree Level or relevant discipline. Ensuring fit comments are issued within agreed timeframes Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office programmes including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
