Job Description

At Touch Surgery, were on a mission to positively impact lives around the world. We are improving surgical outcomes for patients by building software that pushes the boundaries of surgical care. The digital tools we build will help healthcare systems improve training, reduce errors, and decrease the cost of medical care. They help individual surgeons get direct feedback on their performance. Digital Surgery is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons England to award CPD points for cognitive rehearsal and case reflection using Digital Surgery's Touch Surgery mobile and web platform. This marks the first time that the RCS has offered centre accreditation to a mobile-based simulation platform in its 500+ year history. We have mobile and web applications. As well as hardware that goes into the operating room. Tying all of this together is a platform for serving educational simulation content and processing surgical video using ml models. We are looking for senior team members to help us build and improve this platform which is written in Python and built on top of AWS. Our working environment is sane and highly automated. We test things thoroughly and can deploy to any one of our isolated environments with a click. Because of the nature of the data that we process we care deeply about the security and privacy of it. The people that were looking to hire need to as well. Requirements We are looking for people with: * Experience building platforms on top of AWS. * An excellent grasp of their programming language of choice, and a willingness to learn Python if thats not already it. * Opinions and ideas on how to build a great engineering function, and a willingness to help us with that. You can read about some work we have done on that here: * An understanding and appreciation of security issues You would be joining a 7 person platform team, that is part of a 30 person engineering organisation. We are looking for people with direct experience. For the right person this might be Staff Engineer / Principal grade.
