Job Description
Summary: This is an extremely exciting time for Paymentshield and we're looking to expand our pricing team to build on the strong growth within the business. You'll be supporting the team in building and developing pricing models, undertaking price optimizations and carrying out price changes to help the business achieve its goal of increasing both profitability and growth whilst delighting customers. We're a small team which means that you won't get lost in the crowd and will have a fantastic opportunity to put your excellent statistical knowledge into practice. We're looking for someone who's enthusiastic, energetic and keen to learn and in turn we promise to provide you with the training, support and opportunity to grow and make a difference. The key accountabilities of the role: • Understand and build statistical pricing models • Carry out price optimization in line with business demands • Build, review and document price changes • Be able to understand, analyse and interpret findings and communicate them to a non-technical audience • Ensure modelling practices are followed and document model builds • Assess model performance on a continuous basis and highlight changes that need to be made • Carry out adhoc analysis as and when required • Work closely with the wider business to understand what elements need to be considered in each model build The skills you'll have: • A relevant qualification such as a 2:1 in a numerical degree (such as maths, statistics and operational research) or equivalent professional qualification • At least 1 year experience in personal lines insurance pricing • Experience of Emblem/ Radar or Earnix preferred • Attention to detail is a must! • Explaining technical concepts to a non-technical audience • Experience of working with any of the following tools is desirable: SQL, R, SAS and Python. • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office and an excellent working knowledge of excel; VBA is advantageous The type of person we're looking for: • You'll be a positive person who is passionate about promoting data-driven decision making to deliver commercial benefits • You'll have a can do attitude and will be comfortable building data sets from scratch, asking the right clarification questions and reconciling large data-sets • You'll be naturally inquisitive with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to come up with creative solutions • You'll be tenacious in your drive to deliver insight with an ability to communicate concepts to non-technical colleagues • Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and relationship building skills, across peer group (both internal and external) • Strong attention to detail with a desire for excellence in delivery and an appetite and drive to succeed. • Ability to manage and coordinate changing priorities, understand 'what good looks like', and capable of multi-tasking
