Support Worker Job Description Yarrow is a charity organisation that works in West London in the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Ealing and Islington. We provide specialist housing and support for people with disabilities and complex needs and are recruiting for Support Workers for permanent and casual roles. As a permanent Support Worker you will work as part of a team supporting service users in a residential care home or supported living service. Assisting with everyday activities such as household tasks, personal care, social activities and meal planning, you will work shifts on a 24-hour rota basis, which includes weekends and sleep-ins. All our services have permanent staff teams and are supported by a bank of casual workers, who work when needed to cover holidays, sickness and unexpected vacancies. For permanent positions you do not need to have previous experience of care work. You do, however, need to be committed to the rights of people with learning disabilities and have an enthusiastic and caring approach. For bank (casual) roles some experience of working with learning disabilities or with a vulnerable client group is essential and we do require people able to work some days during the week, not just weekends. In return, you will be given full support and training to achieve your NVQs. The hours will be worked as part of a shift system for which regular sleep-in and weekend work is required. In some houses staff will have to work waking nights. Staff will also be required to accompany residents on holiday. Salary - Competitive, plus additional payments for working on bank holidays and for sleep ins for permanent workers. As part of Yarrow's bank team, you will have the opportunity to work as little as few hours per week or to work full time hours a week. Some flexibility is required especially during your induction. Bank (casual) Hourly rate of £8.21 - £10.55 (plus enhancements for Bank holidays hours, plus additional pay for sleepovers.
