We are looking for full-time and part-time Support Workers who are highly motivated people, willing to go the extra mile to support adults and help them enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle. As a Support Worker, you will get to know the people we support, learn what is important to them and how they want to be supported so that they are in control of the support they get. You must be willing and able to work with people who have a variety of different behaviours, including behaviour that may challenge the service. We have positions in; Day services Outreach (community) services As a Community Support Worker, you will support many people who will have varying support needs, the majority of whom live independently in the community. You will be required to travel between locations throughout the day and communicate with management and the team through email and phone, so good ICT skills are essential. You will spend much of the day lone-working and you will need skills such as time-management, accountability and honesty to do this. However, you will also need to demonstrate that you can work as part of a team, even if you do not have regular face to face contact with them. Our day services are based in Lewisham, and Support Workers support people to take part in group and individual activities in a day centre or in the community. You will need to be able to communicate well, be flexible about supporting different groups and activities and be a good team worker. To be successful you must demonstrate the right attitude to support people with learning difficulties and mental health challenges. We would prefer people with experience in a paid or voluntary capacity, but the right attitude is more important. A person-centred approach to working is essential and you must be willing to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the services. Flexible hours may include evenings, weekends, early mornings, late nights, sleeping-ins, bank holidays and supporting people to go on holiday as required.
