* Operational Demand and Forecasting Manager - Manchester * Based at Manchester Airport * Salary circa £40,000 plus annual bonus, pension, free parking and flexi-benefits * Permanent, full time The Business MAG is the country's largest airport group. The Role The Operational Demand and Forecasting Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of circa 6 Planning Analysts. Alongside team management, the post holder will develop and implement an employment model and human resource plans for c.2,500 Manchester staff, in a way which ensures sufficient resource is in place to support the Customer Service, Security, Car Parks and Bussing operations in support of delivering group strategic objectives and provide sufficient coverage to support the journeys of c.31M guests. Typical Duties will include: * Create a strategy for developing the current employment model into one that is efficient, effective and provides the operation with the correct levels of flexibility. * Build, develop and deliver structured resourcing processes that ensure: headcount gaps are filled efficiently on a seasonal, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly basis in the most efficient and effective way; easy understanding by the workforce of their rosters * To understand and interpret Demand Forecasting Models and convert into efficient Resource Plans which inform short (1 year) and long term (1-5 Years) business planning * To convert bi annual post slot hand back demand into capacity plans and fit for purpose rosters for six-month summer/winter seasons. * Undertake consultation on proposed seasonal rosters with Trade Union and roster working group representatives and seek consensus on operationally efficient rosters which also consider working balance for both core and non-core roster populations. * Break down Resource Plans into efficient roster schedules, maximizing utilization and or productivity levels. * Develop and deliver resourcing policies that are effective in a charged ER environment on issues such as the treatment of shift swaps, etc. * Undertake continuous analysis of trends such as tray values, pax show up and load factors and factor these into the weekly and daily resource plans which are issued to the operational teams daily and which all staff are deployed against. * Ensure all resource processes are technology enabled where possible creating a strategy and plan working with stakeholders to ensure this happens, interface with colleagues across MAG to ensure that resource and technology plans meet customer and colleague objectives within and agreed policy and procedures. * To develop contingency resource plans in the event of an emergency or system failure to ensure minimum disruption to services and provide business continuity including the safety of customers, employees and services partners. * To implement long term workforce management systems which deliver more efficient scheduling solutions * Develop and produce MI reports on levels of service provision, forecasting accuracy, operational performance and forecast prediction. * To contribute to the wider Customer Services and M.G teams to establish, maintain and develop a culture, which is focused on the needs of customers, encouraging of innovation and commercially productive and results in correct decisions being made and implemented quickly. You! * Ideally has Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or other relevant fields. * Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a demand planning/forecasting role. * This position requires strong analytical, organisational, decision making, and presentation skills. * Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures. * Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge. * Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts. * Knowledge of SAP/WFP or other software related to demand planning is preferred. * Experienced with other software packages including Windows, and Microsoft Office is essential. Must be an expert user level of the Excel package. * Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process. * Good facilitation skills are required. * Current experience of leading and driving a team.
