Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) is a tertiary Children's Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include most dietetic clinical paediatric specialties. It is a 371 bed, purpose built hospital in the centre of Manchester, and we are continuing to expand and develop our paediatric dietetic service in the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK. Dietetics is a well-recognised and respected service and we form part of most multi-disciplinary clinical teams. The RMCH dietetic service is strategically supported by a professional paediatric dietetic lead together with; • 5 x B8a clinical lead / paediatric dietetic team leads • 18 x B7 clinical specialist paediatric dietitians • 9 x B6 rotational paediatric dietitians • 4 x paediatric dietetic assistant • Special Feeds Unit with 8 assistants • Administrative support We have attracted new funding for an additional 1.6 wte gastro dietitians following a successful business case. The successful applicant will be joining a team of 2.9 wte (4) other band 7 gastro / allergy dietitians . The gastro dietetic service is integrated with the RMCH MDT and provides support to IP , OP and children in the community . We currently have approximately 40 children with short gut and intestinal failure with 35 on home PN. There a large IBD contingent ( approx ) 300 children and we are developing a dietetic led coeliac and FODMAP OP service. We have a busy IP service with a caseload of around 25 complex gastro inpatients at anyone time on PN , EN and exclusion diets. You must be a good team player and leader, flexible, reliable, conscientious, methodical, self-motivated, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to demonstrate insight into the challenges of managing infants, children and young people with a chronic condition. This role could be either Band 6 or Band 7, depending on experience. Band 7 post ; Recent significant clinical experience in acute paediatric dietetics is essential, as is a comprehensive dietetic knowledge base together with evidence of post registration CPD and training (e.g. Paediatric Masters Modules). You would also be expected to have some experience in paediatric gastroenterology (PN and EN) . Band 6 post ; Support and training can be provided the but recent clinical knowledge, experience and training in acute paediatric dietetics is essential . You would have the opportunity to join the team of other rotational band 6 posts within our service . Our service is committed to helping you develop your skills through continued professional development, regular supervision, annual appraisals, audit, policy development and training in line with best practice guidelines to further develop highly specialist clinical skills.
