We currently have vacancies accross a number of specialities in Adult Integrated Medicine. The Directorate is dynamic and innovative and is looking to source enthusiastic, motivated individuals with a passion to support members of their local community following illness or injury. Our nurses develop skills in Acute Illness Management, Clinical Skills, and a wide variety of other areas depending on the area they choose to work in. We offer rotational programmes accross the specialities to enable you to build an outstanding professional portfolio. The Division of medicine has embraced the MFT's "What Matters to Me," campaign and use it to ensure we find out what is most important to our patients, get to know them well and support them to be involved in all decisions about their care. Specialities within the Division of Medicine are; Older People's Care At MRI Wards 45 & 46 are dedicated to the care of older people both wards have been awarded the prestigious Quality Mark for Elder Friendly Wards and in 2017, Ward 45 was named the Trusts "Most Improved Ward," and was very proud to achieve Gold in their Accreditation. Many of the patients we care for are living with Dementia and we are passionate about ensuring our ward environments are calm, therapeutic and support the needs of people who are frail or have cognitive impairment. The team are passionate about "Ending PJ Paralysis," and together with our team of Therapeutic Activity Coordinators we ensure that our patient's days are filled with meaningful and therapeutic activities such as Music and Film group sessions, Arts and Crafts and Reminiscence Time. We can offer a rotational post accross Care of the Elderly and Rehabillitation/ Stroke and Acute Medicine. Respiratory Medicine Wards AM1 & AM2 predominately care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory problems. Nurses on these wards will routinely care for acutely unwell patients and become proficient in the knowledge and skills they need to ensure these patients have the best possible outcome. Specialist skills utilised in this area include titration of Oxygen based on Capillary Blood Gases, administering and monitoring Non-Invasive Ventilation in patients with Type 2 respiratory failure and patients who are being treated for Pleural Effusions and Pneumothoraces. Nurses in this area will also be trained to manage artificial airways such as Tracheostomies and Laryngectomies. Our Respiratory wards can also offer a rotation between, the Accident and Emergency unit and the Acute Medical Unit for nurses who want to maximise their Acute Illness Management exposure. Stroke Ward 31 specialises in delivering Acute Stroke Care and Stroke Rehabilitation in line with national best practice guidelines for Stroke Care. We are a very friendly team who work closely together as an Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. The team has a great professional support network which includes regular interaction and team meetings that allows us to grow, learn and develop together. Alongside the standard preceptorship programme nurses working in this area will develop skills in enteral feeding and insertion of Nasogastric Tubes as well as expertise in effective rehabilitation, holistic care and complex discharge planning. Ward 31 is a great learning environment and very popular with student Nurses who relish the opportunity to work with this supportive team and learn about Stroke, neurology and management of cardiovascular risk factors. On Ward 31 you will develop excellent communication skills and have the privilege of supporting your patients to regain their independence. Endocrinology and Acute Medicine. Ward 6 is a 26 bedded general medical ward caring for patients with a wide range of conditions. We also specialise in endocrinology and Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression. Our team are passionate about delivering a high quality standard of care and ensuring that the patients have an excellent experience during their stay in hospital. Rehabilitation. Ward 32 is a general rehabilitation ward that meets the needs of long term patients that require acute inpatient rehabilitation. It has a fully integrated MDT team and is a brilliant area to work for those nurses who enjoy supporting patients with long term conditions.
